The Disability Benefits Estimator is a tool that individuals with disabilities can use to make informed choices about benefits. This tool estimates the benefits you may be eligible for based on your current benefits and income. If you are receiving benefits, and your income level is about to change, you can use it to see if and how it may affect them.
On the other hand, note that the results of the estimator
are just that, an estimate, not a
guarantee!
The Disability Benefits Estimator is simple to use. Just enter your information into each box on each page as it applies to you. Once you have finished all sections, you will get a list of potential benefits and options to explore. The items with a red asterisk (*) are required.
Once you have done this, you have the option to save your results in your account. You can do this as many times as you would like. On the start page of the estimator, you can see a list of your saved results if you are logged in to your account. From this list, you can view or delete them.
The process takes less than 10 minutes to finish. Also, any
info you share on it will remain private.
You will need to gather some information before using this tool. Have these pieces of information ready, if they apply to you:
To expand on the second point, here are the types of income you can include:
Your summary estimate will give you information about the following areas*:
You can explore each of these options as you see fit, save your results within your account, and take the estimator again (as needed).
*The disability benefits estimator uses income standards,
SSI (Supplemental Security Income), TWP (Trial Work Period), and family size
data to calculate results for you. This information is updated on an annual
basis.
