UNITE HERE Chicago Hospitality Institute (UHCHI) is a partnership between the UNITE HERE Local 1 Labor union and hotels and food service employers in the Chicago area. UHCHI is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) institution and labor-management/Taft-Hartley training fund serving and providing training benefits to employers, the union, and its members. In response to the hospitality sector being one of the largest sectors in Chicago, UHCHI was designed to improve the Chicago area’s tourism and hospitality industry by increasing the skill level of its workforce.

Our mission is to up-skill incumbent hospitality professionals, build new talent for the hospitality industry, and place people into unionized career pathways through training programs that include registered apprenticeships. We recruit, train, and retain skilled employees and provide ongoing professional development and support to individuals in the Chicagoland area.

This is a two-part work training model, an incredibly fun and rewarding learning journey. With cutting-edge curricula, premier instructors, and close collaboration with area employers, the UHCHI Culinary Apprenticeship is the first and ONLY US Department of Labor registered apprenticeship program for the position of Chef de Partie in the State of Illinois. Upon completing the UHCHI apprenticeship program, graduates can move up the career ladder in high-quality hospitality jobs.

DART Deflection Launch and Training Event View

View

Add to Calendar 1:00 PM 7/31/20245:00 PM America/Chicago DART Deflection Launch and Training Event

The DART Leadership Team is excited to invite you to the launch of the DART Deflection Initiative, which will feature a training session. This event marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to positively impact the community, and we are thrilled to have you join us on this journey.

This occasion celebrates the launch of DART and the commencement of deflection referrals. Additionally, it offers hands-on learning as our dedicated DART team delves into the intricacies of the deflection process. This gathering will allow everyone to become familiar with one another and put faces to names, especially as referrals begin to flow in.

WHO:

First responders and Community-based service providers. This includes those who will refer individuals to deflection specialists and the dedicated on-the-ground personnel responsible for accepting deflection participants into various services. It encompasses all individuals actively involved in deflection, including line staff and supervisors across the first responders, treatment, and community sectors. Whether they are working on the streets or part of broader network organizations, this invitation is extended to all those actively involved in the crucial work of deflection.

WHEN:

July 31, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM

LOCATION:

Monticello High School Auditorium

1 Sage Dr. Monticello, IL 61856

AGENDA

Welcome and Introductions (1:00 PM - 1:30 PM):

Start the day with a warm welcome and an opportunity to meet and greet your colleagues, partners, and supporters who are equally committed to the success of the DART Deflection Initiative.

Understanding Deflection (1:30 PM - 2:15 PM):

Learn about the deflection initiative's objectives and strategies and understand its core concepts and processes.

Break (2:15 PM - 2:30 PM)

Training Session (2:30 PM - 2:45 PM):

Explore your role in the initiative and the important part you will play, directly and indirectly.

Q&A and Feedback Session (2:45 PM - 3:15 PM):

Bring your questions, thoughts, and suggestions as we encourage open dialogue and collaboration.

Meet and Greet Session (3:15 PM - 4:15 PM):

Engage in informal discussions and network with fellow first responders and team members to enhance your understanding of the DART Deflection Initiative.

Closing Remarks (4:15 PM - 4:45 PM):

Conclude the day with a recap of key takeaways and an inspirational message on the impact we can achieve together.

Important Note:

While the deflection initiative is a promising approach, it is not an immediate solution to our challenges. It will take time to see significant success; your ongoing dedication and commitment are crucial in this effort. Know that you may refer an individual more than once, and recovery is a process that can take time.

This event is pivotal in ensuring the success of the DART Deflection Initiative. We value your dedication to this cause and are eager to equip you with the knowledge and resources needed to make a difference.

We look forward to your participation and the valuable contributions you will bring to this initiative.

Please email Koren VandeWeele, Program Manager with TASC's Center for Health and Justice, at Kvanderweele@tasc.org RSVP by July 29 to confirm attendance.

Thank you for being an integral part of the DART mission. Together, we can profoundly impact our community and the lives of those we serve.

We look forward to seeing you on July 31, 2024, and embarking on this meaningful journey together.
