Supporting Youth Involved with Foster Care
During the Learning Renewal February Convening, ICSPS and ICCB are discussing Supporting Youth Involved with Foster Care which will include a presentation on the designated topics, time for sharing ideas, and state updates.
Youth with experience in foster care face many obstacles on the road to and through college. Many of these students struggle with homelessness, food insecurity, effects of trauma, educational instability, and lack of family and network support while trying to attend classes and persist. Educators and professionals on college campuses have an opportunity to provide increased stability, local resources, and direct support to students so they can meet their educational goals. This webinar will share best practices when working with youth who have experienced foster care and provide an opportunity to ask questions to learn more!
Attendees will walk away from the webinar with:
- Increased understanding of the obstacles related to postsecondary access and success for youth with experience in foster care.
- Best practices in supporting students on campus and in the community.
- Increased knowledge of resources available to youth who have experienced foster care.
