Add to Calendar 5:30 PM 9/15/20257:00 PM America/Chicago Soulcial Kitchen's Food Truck Operator Apprenticeship Celebration

You're Invited!

We would love for you to join us on Monday, September 15th at the Soulcial Kitchen Campus in Swansea as we celebrate a truly historic milestone--our Department of Labor Food Truck Operator Apprenticeship, created right here at Soulcial Kitchen, is being officially adopted by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation!

This is not just another apprenticeship. It is the first and only mobile food truck operator apprenticeship program in the nation--a groundbreaking effort made possible through the leadership of St. Clair County, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Apprenticeship, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, and the St. Clair County Intergovernmental Grants Department. Initial funding was generously provided by St. Clair County through an Illinois Apprenticeship Expansion Grant, and that seed has now grown into a movement.

Now, the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation is taking this local innovation and carrying it across the country. For the very first time, and apprenticeship born at the local level is being integrated into the Association's Educational Foundation national apprenticeship framework. That means what started here in St. Clair County will soon be shared from coast to coast, helping mobile food entrepreneurs everywhere launch, grow, and thrive.

Evening Schedule:

  • 5:30 PM -- Networking
  • 6:00 PM -- Welcome & Introductions
  • 6:15 PM -- Dinner
  • 7:00 PM -- Program

There is no cost to attend the dinner, and we cannot wait to share this exciting evening with you.

Please RSVP by 12 September to Becky Cowley at bjcowley@madisoncountyil.gov or by calling 618-296-4445.

Together, let's celebrate this incredible achievement and the future it opens for food truck operators nationwide!

The Chef de Partie Culinary Apprenticeship offers aspiring cooks an opportunity to develop their culinary skills in a professional kitchen environment. This hands-on program is designed for individuals passionate about cooking and eager to learn.

Throughout the apprenticeship, participants will work under the guidance of experienced chefs, gaining practical experience in various areas of the kitchen, such as sautéing, fabrication, and sauce preparation. The curriculum includes both classroom instruction, kitchen lab, and on-the-job training, allowing apprentices to learn techniques, flavor profiles, and food safety practices while applying them in real time.

In addition to culinary techniques, the program emphasizes teamwork, time management, and equipping participants with the necessary tools to advance in their culinary careers.

By the end of the apprenticeship, participants will have the confidence and experience needed to pursue further opportunities in the culinary world. This program not only serves as a stepping stone for future roles but also fosters a deep appreciation for the art of cooking and the culinary industry.

The on-site info session offers an engaging overview of our facility, designed to provide visitors with a comprehensive understanding of our operations and mission. The tour begins with a welcome session, where participants are given an outline of the day's agenda.  Participants can ask questions and engage in discussions, ensuring a deeper understanding of our work. The program concludes with a Q&A session, allowing for further interaction and feedback, and providing participants with valuable takeaways about our facility's impact and future goals.
