  • Authorized to Work in the US (signed Social Security card)
  • Able to read, communicate and comprehend English and perform Kitchen Math
  • Available and willing to work evenings and weekends
  • Able to meet physical demands and requirements of the industry
  • Commit to the 8-Week classroom training. *Individuals who do not complete will not be referred to employer partners
  • Cook County Resident or laid off from a job in Cook County
  • COVID vaccination preferred, but not required
  • Completion of the pre-Apprenticeship classes: Intro to Knife Skills and Kitchen Math, and interview with the Chef Instructor
  • Goal to obtain full-time employment in a professional kitchen with one of the partner employers

Our mission is to up-skill incumbent hospitality professionals, build new talent for the hospitality industry and place people into unionized career pathways through training programs that include registered apprenticeships. We recruit, train, and retain skilled employees and provide ongoing professional development and support to local members. Our goal is to be the premier hospitality training provider in the Chicagoland area. 

We are a WIOA-approved training provider and JTED grant recipient. Financial and other supportive services are available for eligible candidates.

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Age 18 and over
  • Authorized to Work in the US (signed Social Security card)
  • Able to read, communicate and comprehend English and perform Kitchen Math
  • Available and willing to work evenings and weekends
  • Able to meet physical demands and requirements of the industry
  • Commit to the 8-Week classroom training. *Individuals who do not complete will not be referred to employer partners
  • Cook County Resident or laid off from a job in Cook County
  • COVID vaccination preferred, but not required
  • Completion of the pre-Apprenticeship classes: Intro to Knife Skills and Kitchen Math, and interview with the Chef Instructor
  • Goal to obtain full-time employment in a professional kitchen with one of the partner employers

The GACC Awards Ceremony recognizes outstanding achievements and contributions made by individuals and organizations to further the development of apprenticeships. This annual event, organized by the German American Chambers of Commerce, brings together key industry leaders, government officials, colleges, high schools, and companies from both Germany and the United States to share best practices, discuss challenges and opportunities, and learn about the latest trends and innovations in the field of apprenticeships.

We recruit, train, and retain skilled employees and provide ongoing professional development and support to local members. Our goal is to be the premier hospitality training provider in the Chicagoland area. 

We are a WIOA-approved training provider and JTED grant recipient. Financial and other supportive services are available for eligible candidates.

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Age 18 and over
  • Authorized to Work in the US (signed Social Security card)
  • Able to read, communicate and comprehend English and perform Kitchen Math
  • Available and willing to work evenings and weekends
  • Able to meet physical demands and requirements of the industry
  • Commit to the 8-Week classroom training. *Individuals who do not complete will not be referred to employer partners
  • Cook County Resident or laid off from a job in Cook County
  • COVID vaccination preferred, but not required
  • Completion of the pre-Apprenticeship classes: Intro to Knife Skills and Kitchen Math, and interview with the Chef Instructor
  • Goal to obtain full-time employment in a professional kitchen with one of the partner employers
