LPN Success
Program Details
Rachel Robinson, 21, is a single parent of a 3-year-old daughter. She had attained her GED in 2022 and her CNA certification in 2023. Rachel was eligible for the DWG/QUEST Program, as her employment had ended more than once in the past 24 months. She was underemployed, earning $15.25 per hour but working only 20 hours per week. Rachel faced the barriers of being low-income, a SNAP recipient, and a single parent. As a woman, she also met the criteria for the Historically Marginalized Population. Additionally, she lived within a Qualified Census Tract.
Rachel was accepted into the program and started LPN Training at the Capital Area School of Practical Nursing. She completed her training in December 2024. She maintained A and B grades during the 9-month accelerated training program. During her training, she received support services in the form of transportation/mileage reimbursement, as well as assistance with her uniform and supply costs. She passed her NCLEX exam in January and obtained her LPN license on February 14, 2025. In March, she became employed as an LPN, earning $30.00 per hour. She has since applied to and been accepted into the LPN to BSN program at St. John’s College of Nursing.
