Path to a Career in Solar Clean Energy
Program Details
Dlando Wooten, a lifelong resident of East St. Louis, Illinois, enrolled in the CEJA Workforce Training Program that began on July 14, 2025, with a clear goal of gaining the skills and certifications needed to begin a career as a solar panel installer in the clean energy industry. Through dedication, hands-on training, and consistent support from program staff, Dlando successfully completed the program and graduated on October 24, 2025.

These credentials strengthened his technical knowledge, workplace safety awareness, and emergency response skills, helping him become better prepared for employment in the solar clean energy field.
In addition to technical training, the program provided comprehensive career readiness support. Case managers worked closely with Dlando to create a professional resume, guided him through the job-searching and application processes, and helped him prepare for interviews to increase his confidence and competitiveness in the workforce. The program also supported Dlando in applying for and securing emergency housing, ensuring he had a stable foundation while completing his training. During this time, he continued to receive SNAP and Medicaid benefits, which helped him meet his basic needs and remain focused on his career goals.
One of the most impactful positive changes for Dlando was his enrollment in a free adult mentorship program that he was connected to through his case manager. This mentorship helped him develop long-term personal and professional goals, including his aspiration to one day own his own business in the clean energy field. The guidance and encouragement he received increased his self-confidence, motivation, and vision for a sustainable future.
Dlando is grateful for the opportunity to participate in a free workforce training program in his community, and he deeply appreciates the support and resources made available to him as a resident of East St. Louis. As a result of this program, Dlando now feels better equipped, more confident, and better prepared to pursue employment in the solar clean energy field.
