Desirae Anderson Success Story
Before joining WVON and Destiny Outreach, I was just a student trying to balance school and everything else, and I didn't always have confidence in myself. Through WVON, I got to see how a real radio station runs—from sitting in on live shows to helping out with different tasks—while Destiny Outreach gave me the chance to be involved in my community and grow as a person.
I’m not really a morning person, and transportation was stressful sometimes, but I still showed up because I knew these opportunities could help me. Both experiences helped me build my communication skills, become more responsible, and learn how to carry myself in different environments.
Because of WVON and Destiny Outreach, I’ve gained so much confidence. I learned how to push through pressure, stop second-guessing myself, and take my work more seriously. These experiences showed me what it’s like to be in professional and community-based spaces, and they motivated me to focus more on my future. Overall, I’ve grown both professionally and personally, and I feel more prepared and determined to reach my goals.
