Qimin Mei joined the Immigrant/Refugee Restaurant Job Training Program to build a successful family restaurant alongside her daughter. Through the training program, she gained valuable knowledge and hands-on experience in restaurant management, food safety, customer service, and daily restaurant operations. She also strengthened her culinary skills and learned more about the planning and logistics involved in opening and operating a restaurant business. As part of the program, Qimin completed the ServSafe® Food Protection Manager training, successfully passed the exam, and earned her certification. The program also provided opportunities to connect with peers and industry professionals, helping her build her confidence in the food service industry. Using the knowledge, experience, and credentials gained through the program, Qimin and her daughter, Maggie, now successfully operate their own restaurant, Jade Garden, in Lyons, IL.
