Before entering the trucking industry, Jonathan faced a common barrier: a lack of the credentials needed to begin a career as a truck driver. Seeking the training and experience needed, he enrolled in Pepsi’s Apprenticeship Program, sponsored by Man-Tra-Con, to earn his CDL.

Throughout the program, Man-Tra-Con staff provided ongoing encouragement, motivation, and support to help him succeed. Through the earn-and-learn Apprenticeship model, Jonathan gained valuable hands-on experience and built confidence behind the wheel. One of the most rewarding parts, he stated, was learning how to operate a truck safely and becoming more comfortable driving over time.

Completing the apprenticeship allowed the participant to earn both his CDL credential and a U.S. Department of Labor Apprenticeship Certificate, providing the qualifications needed to officially enter the trucking industry and begin building a long-term career pathway. When asked what advice he would give future Apprenticeship participants, he encouraged others to stay determined throughout the process: “Just keep going. It may seem difficult, but once you learn the basics, it gets easier.” Now successfully established on his career path, his future goal is to continue growing and advancing within the trucking industry.
