Program Details
Alston Chen joined the Immigrant/Refugee Restaurant Job Training Program after moving to Chicago and was eager to develop his skills and become a restaurant owner. Throughout the training, he demonstrated a strong work ethic, dedication, and a willingness to learn, gaining valuable experience in food preparation, kitchen operations, food safety, and customer service. Through hands-on training, mentorship, and career guidance, Alston built both the technical skills and confidence needed to succeed in a professional restaurant environment. He also gained a better understanding of the day-to-day responsibilities involved in running a restaurant and serving customers. His commitment and perseverance helped him achieve his employment goals and prepare for the next step in his career. After completing the training, he opened his own business, King’s Wok, where he now serves a variety of Chinese dishes to the community in Evergreen Park, IL.
