Program Details

Mark was one of 20 students at Thornwood High School who participated in our employability skills workshop. Mark expressed that he had a slight learning delay and that he was used to people giving him extra time, letting him pass through classes without accountability, or giving up on him. I told him that his delay is not going to define him. He stated that he wanted to go to college, but knew that his grades were not that good. I told him that he had plenty of time to increase his grades and be involved in decision day. With multiple encouraging moments from the school staff, Mark graduated with a 2.92 GPA, participated in decision day, and decided to attend a trade school in Iowa for construction.
