When Calista's employer, Sullivan Healthcare and Senior Living, approached her about pursuing a Registered Nurse (RN) apprenticeship, they recognized something special in her: a strong work ethic, dedication, and a drive to succeed. What they didn't know was that Calista was already navigating major life changes of her own. Newly married and three months pregnant with her first child, she was preparing for an exciting new chapter both personally and professionally.

Rather than viewing the opportunity as one more challenge to add to an already full plate, Calista saw it as an investment in her future. She embraced the apprenticeship, knowing that advancing her education and career would create greater opportunities for herself and her growing family.

Over the past year, Calista has completed the first year of her program while balancing the demands of being a wife, new mother, employee, and student. The journey has not been easy. Like many working parents pursuing education, she has experienced sleepless nights, long days, and moments that required resilience and determination. Yet through it all, she remained focused on her goal.

Today, Calista says every sacrifice has been worth it. The knowledge she has gained, the progress she has made toward becoming an RN, and the opportunities she is creating for her family's future have reinforced her decision to take the leap.

Her advice to others considering an apprenticeship is simple: take the opportunity. Even if the commitment feels overwhelming or the timing seems less than perfect, the rewards can be life-changing.

Calista's story is a testament to the power of apprenticeship programs to open doors, support career advancement, and help individuals achieve goals they may have once thought were out of reach. Through determination, hard work, and a willingness to embrace new opportunities, she is building a brighter future for herself, her family, and the patients she serves.
