Paraeducator to teacher
Program Details
I have been working as a paraeducator for seven years now, and for a long time, I didn't really believe in myself enough to think I could actually become a teacher. But I finally decided, you know what, I can do this and I am worth it! So I applied to McKendree University to complete my degree in special education.
One of the biggest game-changers for me was getting the JTED grant. Knowing I wouldn't graduate with a pile of student loans took so much weight and stress off. Because of that relief, I could actually breathe and focus on being a successful student. Now, I am doing my student teaching this semester, and I am so excited for the career ahead of me.
