Welding Technology Student of the Pathway
Program Details
Laityn, a 2026 junior from Staunton, has been enrolled in the Welding program for one year and has made great strides in both his technical skills and personal growth. His favorite part of the program has been building strong relationships with his peers and learning alongside others who share his interest in welding.
He shares that the most challenging part of the program so far has been mastering open root 6010 welding, a skill that requires precision, focus, and practice. Despite the challenge, Laityn continues to work hard to improve and refine his technique.
Some of the hands-on activities he has enjoyed most include completing T-joint welds and overlap welds, where he has strengthened his skills and gained confidence in the shop.
Laityn says the program has helped him better understand the welding career path, especially the industry processes and specifications. The knowledge and experience he is gaining are preparing him well for a future in the field.
