Program Details

On February 23, 2026, Christopher Lee entered the JTED DHS Program with a clear desire to change his life's direction and build a positive future. During his initial conversations with program staff, Mr. Lee shared that his career goal had always been to work with his hands, fix things, and pursue a career in construction or the skilled trades. He had been interested in this type of work since childhood.
Mr. Lee also openly shared the challenges he had faced growing up. Since the age of 16, he had been involved in gang activity and recognized that he wanted to leave that lifestyle behind. He expressed a strong desire to make positive changes, build a meaningful career, and make his family proud. His determination to create a different future became an important part of his journey through the program.
Recognizing his interests and career goals, JTED DHS staff immediately connected Mr. Lee with one of its partner organizations, AOGRC, which partners with BLISS Global. Through this partnership, Mr. Lee was introduced to an HVAC training program that offered him an opportunity to develop hands-on skills and earn industry-recognized certification in heating and cooling systems.
Mr. Lee interviewed with BLISS Global and was selected from a competitive applicant pool. Out of three candidates initially considered for the available training opportunity, Mr. Lee was selected to move forward and ultimately earned a place in the six-month HVAC training program.
Over the next six months, Mr. Lee demonstrated commitment, perseverance, and a willingness to learn. He completed the intensive training program and graduated on August 15, 2026, earning his HVAC certification and gaining valuable skills to begin his career in the skilled trades.
His success continued almost immediately after graduation. Less than two weeks after completing his certification, Mr. Lee secured employment with Four Seasons Heat & Cooling Company, allowing him to put his newly acquired skills to work and begin building a sustainable career.
Mr. Lee's journey is a powerful example of what can happen when an individual has the right opportunity, support, and resources—and is willing to take the steps needed to change. His decision to leave a negative lifestyle behind and pursue a career in the skilled trades demonstrates his determination to create a better future for himself and his family.
