Continuing my journey in agriculture and culinary arts
Program Details
My name is Christopher Smith. I joined the summer cohort at Finger Lakes Christian Community High School when agriculture and culinary arts became more than subjects to study; the program gave me a chance to work with food from the garden, learn how it could be prayer, and see how those skills might connect to my future.
As I moved through the Culinary and Agriculture program, my horizons broadened; agriculture showed me where food begins. In contrast, culinary arts gave me a way to turn what was grown into something I could share with others, which helped me see a path for myself. After high school, I earned my diploma and am now attending Chicago State University, where I continue to pursue agriculture and culinary arts. My story shows what can happen when someone like me has the opportunity to explore interests through hands-on experience and discover a direction worth following. I'm beyond grateful for the opportunity I received, and I'm now pursuing a career.
