In high school, I wanted to go into the electrical field. My high school offered little to no support or information in such programs. This left me with no guidance on what I wanted to do or where I should go after high school. I enrolled at the College of DuPage knowing that they offered programs of interest to me, yet I still was not sure of what I wanted to excel in. During the first semester, I took classes that would push me in the right direction of where I knew I wanted to go. This led me into my concentration of electro-mechanical technology.

One day while walking to one of my classes, I saw a flyer for Project Hire-Ed and signed up for the informational meeting. I immediately signed up for the program. The program helped me with resumes, interviews, and introduced me to SWD, Inc., the company I am working for now. I am a year into the apprenticeship program, and I can confidently say that I would not be where I am today without Project Hire-Ed. I have been able to learn on the job at SWD while also applying all the skills I have developed through my classes. Also, my coworkers are always there to help me when I have questions and to teach me new concepts. I now have a great support system that includes SWD, the individuals at Project Hire-Ed, and at the College of DuPage.
