Program Details
My name is DeLarren Young and I participated in the Youth Career Pathway Program at the Quad County Urban League. In reflection of my time throughout my undergraduate schooling, there have been many accomplishments that I gained and strived for. With those accomplishments, I have further pushed myself to become a better learner and student in psychology to my ever-approaching graduation date. Yet even with these accomplishments, I faced many adversities and troubles as a student at an out-of-state college where tuition, books, and housing are expensive. Gathering funding and scholarships proved challenging until I was introduced to Youth Career Pathways Program at Quad County Urban League! They tremendously helped me with the cost of my tuition, housing, books, and even groceries, which aid I would have never received and been as successful had I not been helped by the immensely driven, intelligent, caring, and understanding people of Quad County Urban League.
The training I received through the Youth Career Pathways Program helped build my professional and intellectual skills. These skills helped in my project presentation, job interviews, and social networking meetings. My Case Manager, Manuela Gracia, has been especially phenomenal in helping me gain professional skills, scholarship resources, internships, jobs, and more. She is only a piece of many at the Quad County Urban League that will go the extra mile to make sure students like me get the help we need and deserve!
I look forward to my continued relationship with Quad County Urban League for many more years.
