Program Details

Christopher was born in Mexico and currently lives in Chicago, Illinois. He's always had a passion for technology and an interest in learning what's behind the machine and how technology works. In 2021, Christopher earned his Associate Degree in Computer Science from Harold Washington College, but he wanted to continue to gain experience with technology to develop a better understanding of the future of technology.

In September 2021, Christopher signed up for the Youth Job Center with an interest in technology. Christopher started the IT Career Lab with National Able on April 4, 2022, and completed the program on August 5, 2022. During the IT Career Lab, Christopher earned two badges. His first badge was for Introductions to Networks, where he gained knowledge of networking, including IP addressing, how physical data link protocols support Ethernet, and configuring connectively between switches, routers, and end devices to provide access to local and remote resources. The second badge he earned was his CCNA: Enterprise Networking, Security, and Automation, where he obtained a foundation in scalable network architectures, dynamic routing, mitigation of security threats, wide area networks, virtualization, and automation of programmable networks.

Christopher is currently interning at the Youth Job Center as a Data Associate. As Christopher goes through his internship, he hopes to continue gaining skills and experience to utilize in the IT field while adding those skills to his resume to showcase his expertise to future employers. He learned how to improve his time management and multitasking skills. Christopher has grown more confident in looking for and choosing a job in IT. In the future, he wants to help/support others who face challenges with technology to make it easier for them. He wants to show those, who face challenges with technology, how it works and the benefits of technology.
