Apprentice-to-College Instructor

In spring 2023, Anthony Bellavia will complete the Computer Numerical Control (CNC) apprenticeship program and earn an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree from Elgin Community College (ECC). Anthony worked at Herrmann Ultrasonics in Bartlett while attending classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Anthony demonstrated keen abilities and interest in Industrial Manufacturing Technology (IMT) in classes and the workplace. Anthony says, "During the program, ECC supported me in everything that I needed.” Moreover, Professors noticed his capacity for articulating course concepts and encouraged him to apply for the adjunct instructor role in the Sustainability Business and Career Technology Division. Anthony was hired and is moving from student to teacher! He notes the powerful impact of apprenticeship as it has “opened up my career in more ways than one.”
