Program Details

Lawrence Wyre, a 23-year-old single parent, came to Phalanx Family Services to seek a career opportunity within the construction field. He struggled to land employment due to his criminal background. Lawrence is a motivated young individual with a solid vision to change his life around and make a positive impact within himself and in the lives of others; he believes in a second chance/opportunity.

In February 2023, Lawrence enrolled in the Youth Career Pathways (YCP) - Build & Grow Construction Program. He completed all his certifications and graduated as one of the top students. Lawrence gained self-employment as a Construction Laborer. After a short period of working in the industry, he gathered classmates from the YCP Construction Training Program to establish a group of construction laborers to complete jobs with homeowners and business owners. With his new credentials and skills, he makes an average of $22.00 per hour and has maintained employment to care for himself and his family. He will no longer suffer from not having a steady income.

One day, Lawrence would like to own a non-profit organization to provide workforce development solutions and strength-based social services to disadvantaged and at-risk populations, especially youth, like he formerly was. He is committed to building stronger families.

From trainee to entrepreneur, classmates to business owners. Lawrence is genuinely one of Phalanx's Finest!
