Just before Thanksgiving in 2021, Timothy Sides loaded all his belongings into a backpack, set his mind to “start from scratch,” and began a search for the tools necessary to change his trajectory. Fortunately, his next step was the right one: finding out about and choosing A Safe Haven.

Timothy knew he needed assistance in many areas, so he reached out to the premier organization specializing in the type of help that would address all of them. Throughout his stay at A Safe Haven, he found the counselors, training, and employment that brought him to where he wanted to be, living the life he wanted to lead.

Timothy participated in recovery sessions, work readiness training, industry-specific training, and obtained assistance from A Safe Haven’s in-house employment center. He was impressed with the variety of resources available to him. Timothy passed up a couple of employment opportunities before choosing to join our landscaping social enterprise. After his first week of working, he signed a lease for his first apartment. He resided at A Safe Haven for a bit longer to save up for a car, which he filled with all his newly-acquired belongings when he finally moved into his apartment.

Still employed within the landscaping industry, Timothy has moved through the ranks from Trainee to Groundskeeper, temporary Driver, and interim Supervisor. Timothy is overjoyed with his new career and is grateful to A Safe Haven for getting him to where he is now; he is going places!
