Michael came to The Workforce Connection in Illinois after learning that he qualified for the TAA Program.  Michael explained that at this time he felt lost and didn’t know what his future would hold for him after being dislocated from his employment at Chrysler in January of 2022.  Despite his weariness about the future, Michael approached his decision to apply for training with resolve and worked with his Career Planner to enroll at Rasmussen University for their Informational Technology AAS program.  Although Michael had no experience in IT, he had always been interested in this field and saw an opportunity to explore an always evolving occupational area.  Despite the challenges navigating his schoolwork and life balance, Michael enjoyed his training very much.  Michael explained that he was always very grateful for the assistance of his university representatives and his Career Planner.  Michael graduated with an Associate of Applied Science in Informational Technology on February 6th of 2024.  He went on to acquire a full-time job as a Technical Operations Specialist with PCI Pharma Services.  When asked how he feels about his new employment, Michael reported that his new role at PCI is great.  He explained that he can combine his previous manufacturing experience with the new technical skills he learned during his IT training.  He is also grateful to have room to grow and advance to higher roles.  Michael would encourage anyone looking for a new career to take advantage of this program and others like it.
