Nursing Rising Star - Rachel Robinson
Rachel Robinson, age 21, is a single parent with a 3-year-old daughter. She obtained her GED in 2022 and earned her CNA certification in 2023. After applying for WIOA funding, Rachel was found eligible for the DWG/QUEST Program. Over the past 24 months, her employment had ended multiple times, and she was underemployed, earning $15.25 per hour while working only 20 hours per week. Additional challenges included being low-income, a SNAP recipient, and a single parent. As a female, she also qualified as part of the Historically Marginalized Population. Rachel lived within a Qualified Census Tract. She was accepted into the LPN Training Program at the Capital Area School of Practical Nursing and completed her training in December 2024, maintaining A and B grades throughout the 9-month accelerated program. Rachel received support services, including transportation reimbursement and assistance with uniforms and supplies. She passed her NCLEX exam in January 2025 and received her LPN license on February 14, 2025. By March, she had secured a position as an LPN, earning $30.00 per hour. She has since applied to and been accepted into the LPN to BSN program at St. John’s College of Nursing to further her career in healthcare.
