Austin Attains His CDL
Austin Surratt came to Wabash Area Development, Inc. for assistance enrolling in the CDL program at SIC. He had just moved back from Oklahoma, where he had been working with his uncle installing windows, and learned that he needed a CDL to drive larger delivery trucks. While living alone in Oklahoma, he couldn’t afford to both work and pay for classes, so he returned home, where his parents provided him a place to stay. Still, Austin struggled to find the money for the 4-week course.
He was directed to Wabash Area Development, Inc., to see if we could help with the cost of his classes. To his surprise, we were able to cover not only his books and tuition but also fuel costs and other expenses he incurred while attending.
Austin completed the 4-week course and obtained his CDL. Within a month, he was hired at Jung Trucking Services, Inc. Grateful for WADI’s support, he is now building a career and has become self-sufficient.
