Program Details
Brandon received work experience in the logistics industry along with Employability Training. Brandon expressed interest in becoming a Class A CDL Driver during the hiring process. The training covered multiple aspects of the package delivery industry, including on-road safety with a focus on defensive driving and distracted driving avoidance, proper loading and unloading techniques, behind-the-wheel training on public roads, package delivery procedures, vehicle pre-trip and post-trip inspections, customer service skills, time management and route optimization, and the use of technology such as GPS, handheld devices, and in-cab cameras.
Brandon went above and beyond by asking questions, shadowing delivery drivers, and staying late to better understand logistics challenges. At the end of the training program, Brandon was awarded full-time employment as a Driver Helper with a salary of $18 per hour and a benefits package that includes retirement savings, performance bonuses, health insurance, and tuition reimbursement.
