Supportive Services provide customers of all Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Title IB programs with key assistance beyond career and training services necessary to achieve success in securing and retaining employment. Supportive services, like assistance with transportation or childcare, allow customers to successfully engage with WIOA career and training activities, such as Registered Apprenticeships or classroom training, that are vital to entering or re-entering the workforce.

Needs-related payments, a supportive service, provide financial assistance to adults and dislocated workers, enabling them to participate in training. Unlike other supportive services, to qualify for needs-related payments, a customer must be enrolled in training. Customers may receive needs-related payments thirty (30) days prior to training; however, States may grant local areas the authority to extend eligibility for exceptional circumstances.
