Practical nurses (L.P.N.’s) must be licensed by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. Licensing requirements include:

• graduation from an approved practical nursing program of not less than one year (nine academic months);
• passage of a licensing exam; and,
• payment of a fee.

Licensure must be renewed every two years.
