In a typical work setting, models:
Interpersonal Relationships
- Have a medium to high level of social contact. They work closely with agents, clients, photographers, and stylists.
- Often communicate with others by telephone and e-mail.
Physical Work Conditions
- Mostly work indoors but may occasionally work outdoors depending on what they're modeling.
- Are often exposed to bright light from cameras and other photographic equipment.
Work Performance
- Must be sure that all details about their outfits are done and their work is accurate, so they get the right look for clients.
- Repeat the same physical activities, such as walking, turning, standing, or holding a pose.
Hours/Travel
- Often work very irregular hours. Most jobs are during the day, but some outdoor photo sessions may be at night or early in the morning.
- Work less than 40 hours a week.
- Must travel to auditions and bookings. May travel to distant cities and foreign countries for photo sessions.
