In Illinois, physical therapists must be licensed by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. Licensing requirements include:
- being at least 18 years old;
- completion of an approved program in physical therapy;
- passage of a written exam authorized by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation; and,
- payment of a license fee.
License renewal is required every two years.
