Procurement Services Managers - Licensing / Certification

Certification is optional for purchasing managers. Though not required, it may be helpful for employment or advancement. In addition, certification is a sign of experience and skill.

Two types of certificates are available. They both require passing exams and meeting experience requirements.

Purchasing managers who work for the government can become Certified Public Purchasing Officers (CPPO). This certificate is available from the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing.

In private industry, the Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) title is offered by the National Association of Purchasing Management.
