Adjustment Clerks - Overview

Customer service representatives work to help customers and solve complaints.

Customer service representatives answer questions or requests from customers. They usually provide services over the phone but may interact with customers face to face, via live chat, or by email.

Representatives work for organizations in a variety of industries, including:

  • Banks
  • Utility companies
  • Retail stores

Customer service representatives provide information about products and services. They process billing or payments and review customer accounts. Customer service representatives make changes to customer accounts when needed and record customer contact information.

When customers have an issue, customer service representatives work with them to resolve the problem. They may issue refunds, transfer them to another department that can help more, or answer questions. Customer service representatives may also sell products and services.
