In a typical work setting, drafters:
Interpersonal Relationships
- Communicate with others on a daily basis by e-mail, and in person. They also write letters and memos and talk to others on the phone, but less often.
- Usually work as part of a team of drafters and architects.
- Are somewhat responsible for the work done by the drafters they supervise.
- Occasionally deal with conflict situations and people who may be rude or upset.
Physical Work Conditions
- Almost always work indoors.
- Are occasionally exposed to sound and noise levels that may be distracting.
- Work near others, such as in a shared office space.
Work Performance
- Must be sure jobs are done accurately and thoroughly.
- Work in a moderately competitive atmosphere and meet weekly deadlines.
- Make decisions that affect other frequently. They sometimes consult a supervisor first.
- Set some of their daily tasks and goals, but usually speak to a supervisor first.
