Demand for this career is expected to grow more slowly than average. Some growth will occur as hazmat sites recognized by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) continue to be cleaned up. Many nuclear power plants are also expected to close down and workers will be needed to decontaminate equipment, sites, and buildings.
However, government budget cuts reduce the funding for these types of projects. Also, fewer buildings have asbestos that needs to be removed.
