Fundraisers - Working Conditions

In a typical work setting, fundraisers:

Interpersonal Relationships

  • Have a high level of social contact. They communicate by telephone, e-mail, and in person on a daily basis. They also write letters and memos, but less often.
  • Regularly work as part of a team.
  • Are moderately responsible for the work done by others.
  • Occasionally deal with conflict situations where people may be rude or upset.

Physical Work Conditions

  • Almost always work indoors. They may work outdoors at an event.
  • Work near others, usually in a shared office space or within a few feet.

Work Performance

  • Must be very accurate when planning fundraisers so events and campaigns are successful.
  • Repeat the same mental and physical tasks.
  • Work in a moderately competitive atmosphere where monthly deadlines must be met.

Hours/Travel

  • Work full time. May work more than 40 hours a week.
  • Usually work a set schedule. May work nights and weekends to attend fundraising events.
