Students need to buy their own lab coats and name tags for their clerkships.

You can earn national certification after you graduate from a pharmacy technology program. The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board administers the exam. Although national certification is not required, it does show employers and patients your knowledge and skill level. You also get to use the title Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).

If you choose to get certified, you must renew your certification every two years by taking continuing education courses.
