Surgeries can be long and complicated. You may even need to help with minor procedures. To be a surgical technician, then, you need to be strong and coordinated. You need to work well with your hands. You need to have a long attention span. And you need to work well under stress.

When you graduate from this program, you can take the national certification exam offered by the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist. If you pass the exam, you get to use the title Certified Surgical Technologist (CST). Certification is not required, but many employers see it as a sign of your knowledge and skills.
