Many proprietary schools and hospitals offer medical translator and interpreter programs. In most cases, these teach you to work with Spanish-speaking patients in hospitals and medical centers.

Different schools offer varying programs and courses in second languages. Be sure to check with each school about their offerings, especially if you're interested in learning to interpret and translate a less common language (for example, Portuguese or various dialects).

Many people with a degree in this area work for the government. Government agencies that commonly use interpreters and translators are the FBI, CIA, and State Department. Large corporations with offices in several countries often also employ interpreters and translators.
