Gender Studies - Helpful Information

Things to know

Women's studies is sometimes called "Gender Studies."

Both men and women can major in women's studies.

Very few people who receive a bachelor's degree in women's studies ever get a job related to the field. Even so, this program provides a solid background for many careers that require a four-year degree. This is because students in women's studies learn skills in critical thinking and writing. These skills are valuable to many types of employers.

Many women's studies programs require you to complete a project about your interests. For example, if you're a photographer, you can put together a set of photographs about female athletes.

Internships and community service projects that deal with issues related to women are usually offered and sometimes required.
