Automotive Technology-Diploma Program

Provide the graduate the entry-level knowledge and skills to correctly test, diagnose, replace, repair, and adjust as necessary, the components of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and accessories systems on current automobiles. Upon completion of this program, graduates will be qualified for entry into the automotive service career field as a technician capable of analysis, problem solving, performing most common service operations, and under supervision, more specialized or involved tasks with a dealer, independent shop or other service outlet. Students will be required to complete out-of-class assigments in each course.

The admissions requirements are: 1)be beyond the age of compulsory school attendance; 2)be a high school graduate or possess a state-approved high school equivalency assessment; 3)complete and sign an enrollment agreement; 4)pay a deposit toward the required registration fee as published in the schedule of fees catalog addendum; and 5)take and achieve a passing score on the entrance assessment examination. Applicants may be required to participate in support training as a result of their testing. The entrance examination may be waived for applicants who have an acceptable score on the ACT or SAT tests. The maximum tuition and fees amount approved for this occupation is $8,000.
