The program was designed to produce well-trained drinking water & wastewater treatment operators, who would enter the workforce as certified professionals. The combination of classroom & hands-on training meet the requirements for Illinois EPA & Missouri Dept. of Natural Resources operator certification programs. All ERTC graduates are eligible to take the entry level professional certification exams in IL & MO. The ERTC facility houses 5 training scale water treatment plants (with a capacity of 30,000 gallons per day), 2 classrooms, an auditorium & 2 water quality labs. The training spans 2 semesters & includes the following topics: drinking water treatment operations, wastewater treatment operations, distribution system operations collection system operations, lab analysis & mechanical/electrical maintenance. Upon completion of the 2 classroom semesters, students will take part in a 10 week internship at a water & wastewater facility.
