Chiropractors - Employment & Outlook

The table below provides information about the number of workers in this career in various regions. It also provides information about the expected growth rate and future job openings.

Employment

Major employers:

  • Privately owned practice
  • Doctors' offices
  • Hospitals

Outlook

Demand for chiropractors will increase as more Americans are drawn to alternative forms of medicine. In addition, interest in complementary healthcare has led to more acceptance of using chiropractic treatments for the back, neck, and limbs. As a result, more health insurance plans now pay for chiropractic treatment and more chiropractors work with other healthcare workers.

As the population grows and ages, there will also be an increased need for treatment. However, this is not a large career and very few job openings will occur.
