Financial Planners - Working Conditions

In a typical work setting, securities salespeople:

Interpersonal Relationships

  • Have a high level of social contact with others by phone, e-mail, and in person. They occasionally write letters and memos.
  • Occasionally deal with conflict situations and people who may be angry or unpleasant.
  • Often work as part of a team.

Physical Work Conditions

  • Almost always work indoors.
  • May share an office space with others or have a private office.

Work Performance

  • Must be very exact in their work and be sure all details are done correctly.
  • Make decisions that greatly impact their client's and employer's finances and reputation daily.
  • Rarely consult a supervisor before making decisions or setting their tasks for the day.
  • Sometimes repeat the same mental and physical tasks.

Hours/Travel

  • May work 40 hours a week or more.
