Program Description
The Certification Program for Patient Care Technician prepares the student to work in a hospital, medical clinic or other healthcare environment under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or physician. Students are trained to perform clinical skills such as blood collection, EKGs, catheterization, recording vital signs and patient treatments, CPR and other tasks related to patient care. The student learns medical safety, infection control, health care terminology, nutrition and anatomy that are essential in performing the duties of caring for patients.
To obtain the Patient Care Technician Certificate, the student must complete 3 modules: Basic Nursing Assistant, EKG, and Phlebotomy. The student can complete the 3 training programs on Basic Nursing Assistant Training Program, EKG Technician, and Phlebotomy Technician Course to obtain the Certificate for the Patient Care Technician or Certificates for the 3 programs.
