Program Description

This hands-on training program is ideal for an individual who wants to start an Information Technology career. It teaches you the skills needed to be a computer service technician and a network and security professional. This program convers installation, configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and security of computer hardware, software, operating systems, peripherals, cabling and networks. It also covers the duties of those who are responsible for monitoring and detecting security incidents in information systems and networks, and for executing proper response to such incidents. Students will be introduced to tools and tactics to manage cybersecurity risks, while promoting a comprehensive approach to security on the front lines of defense. Learn how to identify various types of common threats, evaluate an organization's security, collect and analyze cybersecurity intelligence, and handle incidents as they occur.

3WIOA and TAA students need to contact the Harper College Workforce Coordinator at (847) 925-6782 or WIOA@harpercollege.edu. A separate book voucher is required for Follett Bookstore #1341 on campus. Books can be ship if requested for a small fee. Each semester, all Cook County WIOA sending agency case managers must supply the Harper College Workforce Coordinator with a Semester Training Schedule Approval Form that lists the courses the client will be taking that semester, and this must match the client's Harper Educational Plan.4 The maximum tuition and fees amount approved for this occupation is $8,000.
