Program Description
NIU's B.S. in Public Health focuses on health promotion and disease prevention and addressing complex health problems at the community level. Students may choose to concentrate their studies in one of four focus areas: health administration, environment and health, health promotion, and general public health. Through extensive classroom and hands-on experience, students acquire the health care planning and information handling skills needed for a diverse and constantly changing field. Students will also be prepared to pursue graduate work.
Career opportunities are plentiful and include roles in hospitals, health care management organizations, local and state health departments, nursing homes, health care accrediting agencies and non-profit organizations.
