Program Description
This program has been designed to fulfill the market demand for trained medical coders, medical billers, and insurance claims processors. The goal of the Health Information Technology program is to provide students with a thorough understanding of the healthcare revenue cycle, medical records management, and medical coding. Graduates of the program will have skills useable for positions in various healthcare settings including outpatient hospital coding departments, health insurance companies, physician offices and medical coding service companies. Completion of this program provides students with certification as professional medical billers (CPB) and coders (CPC). The program is approved by American Academy of Professional Coders. Course length: 36 weeks, 960 hours, 160 hours (externship), course schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30am to 2:30pm.

Application Procedure
The application procedure is initiated through our information sessions that we conducted every Tuesday and Wednesday at 9:30am. The next step for applicant is to fill out the application and bring in a picture ID, resume, high school diploma or GED and transcript if applicable. The next step is for the student to take the TABE test with a minimum score of 10.0-12.9 those who test lower may be admitted on a provisional basis depending on other circumstances. The TABE test is administered by the provider and there is no out of pocket expense for the students. The maximum tuition and fees amount approved for this occupation is $5,000.
