Program Description
The hair braiding course shall be a combination of classroom instruction and hands on, practical, and technical experience. Per the Act of 1985 in the Illinois General Assembly, hair braiding is defined as a natural form of hair manipulation by brading, cornrowing, extending, lacing, locking, sewing, twisting, weaving or wrapping human hair, natural fibers, synthetic fibers, and hair extensions. Such practice can be performed by hand or by using simple brading devices including clips, combs, hairpins, scissors, needels and thread. Hair braiding includes the making of customized wings from natural hair, natural fibers, synthetic fibers, and hair extensions.
