Program Description
This course prepares medical assistant students to be multi-skilled allied health professionals specifically trained in administrative, laboratory and clinical procedures for the duties of a medical assistant in doctors clinics and hospitals. Students will learn clinical procedures including administering medications, performing an electrocardiogram, obtaining laboratory specimens for testing, educating patients, and maintaining a clean clinical environment. Medical assistants perform routine clinical tasks to keep the medical offices running efficiently. Clinical duties may include taking medical histories of patients, recording vital signs, explaining treatment procedures, preparing patients for a variety of medical procedures, and assisting the physician with routine office procedures. Students are provided certification exam prep classes in addition to the instructional hours. They are allowed one retake. Students complete a 140- clock hours instructional component, they are prepared by JVI staff to take the NHA national certification exam after which they are placed in externship for another 140 clock hours. Students receive a completioncertificatewhen they finish the 140 instructional hours and pass the in-house final exam. They qualify as JVI graduates when they complete the instructional component, pass the in-house exam, pass the NHA and complete the externship.

Application Procedure
Potential students need to apply through the Jeremi Vocational Institute website. They have to attach their proof of graduation and ID and submit to the school. They can choose the payment option for the program during the application process. Students also have the option to apply for their desired program at the school during the schools business hours. Students will be required to provide proof of grad and state ID at that time. Once they have been approved and funding has been secured, they will be able to attend the required school orientation where they review and sign the enrollment agreement before attending their first day of class. The maximum tuition and fees amount approved for this occupation is $8,000.
